Newsletter Week 10 Term 2 2025
Principal's Message
Dear Warwick Central Community,
As Term 2 comes to a close, I’d like to thank our Warwick Central community—students, staff, and families—for another successful and productive term.
We wish you safe, restful, and enjoyable winter holiday break. This is a well-earned chance for everyone to recharge and spend time together.
A reminder that school resumes for Term 3 on Monday 14 July. We look forward to welcoming students back, refreshed and ready for learning. We will also be on the countdown to our 150th Celebrations!
Student report cards for semester 1 have now been emailed home. Please take the time to read through them with your child, celebrate their successes, and reflect on areas for growth.
Please note that there was a state-wide glitch in sending some report cards home. This affected parents that have "Gmail" accounts. Please email the principal@warwickcentralss.eq.edu.au inbox should you require a copy sent to you individually. Note that this may not be completed until after the holidays. The Department apologies for the delay and are working on a solution and you may receive them in due course.
We welcome Ms Emily Coy, our new groundsperson, to our school. We thank Mrs Porter for her work in 3/4M this term, and welcome back Mrs Meyer from her long service leave. Ms Wilson and Mrs Meyer will resume their days in the 3/4M class in Term 3.
Enjoy the break and we’ll see you in Term 3!
Warm regards,
Miss Rhiannon Downie
Principal
Choir Tour excursion
Warwick Central Choir went on an amazing tour of 4 Nursing Homes in Warwick last Friday, week 9. They performed at Akooramak, Churches of Christ, Oak Tree Retirement Village and The Oaks. The children sang beautifully and worked really hard! They sang for over 2 hours in total! They have an incredible repertoire of choral pieces and they sang their little hearts out! It was a huge day – and quite warm (very very hot!) inside nursing homes!
We were very spoilt all day. We received a wonderful morning tea at Churches of Christ and a lovely picnic and play in Leslie Park. At Oak Tree the students received little gifts and one of the residents, John, made us a Koala Clock. We are going to hang it in the music room. The choir received many wonderful compliments and invitations to return.
A huge thank you to our parent volunteers, Caitlin, Anita, Samantha and our special High School volunteer Cadence. They all worked very hard to keep the children happy, fed and cool!
The choir students at Warwick Central work very hard and we are all very proud of them. They have more events coming up in term 3 – Central 150th, State Schools Combined Concert and Bony Mountain Music Festival.

Social Media
It is an expectation that student and/or parent social media posts stay appropriate and respectful towards the school, its staff and students, as posts that name and defame can potentially be harmful to the reputation of the school, and wellbeing of associated community members.
The appropriate method of raising any concerns you have in respect to the school itself is to raise the matter directly to the School’s Principal, by making an appointment through the office. You can find more information about how the Department of Education manages complaints on our website at https://qed.qld.gov.au/contact/compliments-complaints.
Raising matters of concern on social media sites will not by itself cause concerns with the school to be dealt with or responded to.

150th Celebrations

We are coming closer to the big day!
Mr Graham Peel sent us some great photos of his time at Central - first as a student, then as a teacher!
Our committee is working hard to finalise stalls, food and drink options, the programme, and a very special dinner, hosted by the P&C, at the Warwick RSL on Friday 12th September (the night before our big day!)
Please keep your eyes peeled for upcoming advertising about the events. We look forward to sharing more with you as time rolls closer!
Community Notices
All Queensland homes, including caravans and motorhomes, must have interconnected photoelectric smoke alarms by 1 January 2027. These alarms are faster at detecting fires and when one goes off, they all do, giving you more time to escape.
It’s also important to create and practise a fire escape plan with your family. It only takes a few minutes and could save lives.
