Newsletter Week 8 Term 2 2025
Principal's Message
Dear Warwick Central community,
Winter has well and truly arrived, and in true Warwick fashion, the temperature has dropped, the winds have picked up and we spend the first week of cold weather shivering and complaining about it!
We know that often kids say they "don't feel the cold", however we still very much encourage students to bring their cold weather clothing in their bags, incase conditions change. If you are stuck, our school office has a limited supply of quality secondhand school uniforms, including jumpers and trackies, for a small cash donation. If you have any that you are able to donate, in good condition, we would be grateful.
This week we see our Athletics stars in fine form, as we run our events for track and field.
At Warwick Central, we are committed to creating a safe, respectful and supportive environment for every student. While our staff actively teach and reinforce positive behaviours at school, we also know the most powerful messages often come from home.
We ask all parents and carers to take a few minutes this week to have a conversation with your child about the importance of treating others with kindness and respect. Please talk openly about what bullying looks like—including name-calling, teasing, excluding others, and using hurtful language.
Even small acts of unkindness can have a big impact on another child’s wellbeing. Helping your child understand how their words and actions affect others builds empathy and promotes a stronger, more connected school community. Together, through consistent messages at home and school, we can help all students feel safe, valued, and included.
Thank you for your ongoing support.

Report cards semester 1 2025
We now exclusively email student report cards to families. They will be emailed to all caregivers who receive communication as per your enrolment forms on Wednesday, 25 June 2025. Please ensure your email addresses are up to date with the office.
Please take time for read the report cards and celebrate the successes your child has achieved this semester. Don't forget, a "C" means that they are achieving at their expected year level achievement standard against the curriculum.
If you require a paper copy of your child's report card, please contact the school office.
Sports round -up
We have had many sporting events in and out of school of late.
Congratulations to all who have been trialling at Southern Downs representative trials.
Ukyra A has made the SD girl's rugby league team.
Dominic and Dimitri B have been in Brisbane with DDSW representative basketball, well done boys.
Students in 5/6 participated in Broncos Cup gala day last Friday, where they played netball, soccer or rugby league. All reports were that Central students gave their best effort and encouraged their team mates to try their best. This is very pleasing to hear.
Today, we came together to shine at our Athletics Carnival. All students had the opportunity to participate in track and field events. The 5-8 year olds participated in fun rotational activities and running races. It's days like this where our community comes together to celebrate in the name of good sportsmanship. We are proud of the students and their achievements, but mostly their effort on days like this.
150th Celebrations- Sept 13 2025

Did you know?
Warwick Central SS's foundation stone, of our iconic sandstone building, was laid on 25 June 1874 by the town's mayor, marking the commencement of construction. The stonework was executed by John McCulloch at a cost of £1,055, while John Keleher handled the timber structures and joinery. The building was completed by the end of March 1875 .
This beautiful building still stands today, however over the years had had modifications and improvements made to ensure that it still stands strong for our school.
Initially, the school operated as separate institutions: Warwick West Boys School, Girls School, and Infants School, reflecting the educational practices of the time. There was even a fence down the middle of the oval to the laneway, separating the two wings of the school! In 2006, the school was added to the Queensland Heritage Register, recognising its historical and cultural significance .
We are rolling full- steam ahead for our 150th celebrations! Our next committee meeting is June 24th, 5:30pm in our school library. We need all hands on deck to ensure this is a monumental event!
