Principal's Message

Dear Warwick Central community,
It is the time of year where many events, in and out of school, dominate our calendar. It is pleasing that many of our students are achieving representative sport nominations and going off to try their best to make higher levels.
Most recently, congratulations go to Daniel W (6) for making the DD X Country team, and Ukyra A (6) for making the DD touch team.
It is again my message this fortnight that our school expectations apply not only during the school day, but also at all school-related events—this includes sporting events, excursions, camps, and any activities where students represent our school.
Respect, responsibility, and positive behaviour are expected at all times. These standards ensure a safe and supportive environment for everyone and reflect the values of our school community. Every school has expectations- we are no different.
We appreciate your continued support in upholding these expectations, and in helping our students represent our school with pride—both on and off campus. If expectations are not followed at school and at these events, decisions will be made about student's inclusion in these activities. We have high expectations of our students to come to school to work and learn and be respectful to our staff and to each other, otherwise they do not earn the privilege of such activities.
Central's 150th
Our 150th celebration planning is coming along well, with a small group of dedicated staff, P&C members and community helpers all pitching in to make it a memorable day. We are always in need of more helpers and we will require lots of help on the day- as we get closer, I will be calling for assistance to man stalls, provide some baked goods and help with the setup and breakdown of furniture, etc. I hope I can rely on our school community to pitch in to help. Our next committee meeting is next week, 20 May, 5:30-6:30pm in the library. I encourage you to be there!
Leave a message!
As you can appreciate, our school phone runs hot for the majority of the day. Sometimes, the office is unmanned for short periods of time when jobs need completing. If you have a non-urgent message to deliver, please leave a voicemail and Mrs Gilchrist will always receive it and contact you back if necessary.

1 U Cobb & Co Excursion
Last week, our Year 1’s visited the Cobb & Co Museum in Toowoomba for the Olden Days Festival. We got to see & explore so many things from the past, like old telephones and cameras and horse-drawn carriages. We met a real blacksmith & an old-fashioned governess! There was a really fun Science Centre with lots of hands-on experiments too! It was a huge, exciting day, and we were really tired afterwards, but we made our school proud with our best Central RULES behaviour!

Wellbeing program
Most of you now know our wonderful Wellbeing Officer- Anne Bonner. (Miss Anne to our kids). She works with our students on Wednesday and Friday, delivering tailored programs to support student emotions, wellbeing, self-confidence, self-esteem and other topics that help student engagement and regulation. You'll often see her spending time with kids that want to chat in the playground or at eating time as well. She is also our breakfast club coordinator. Miss Anne, along with our teacher aides, provide breakfast club in our Hall building 5 days a week for our students- with delicious choices for a healthy start to the day. ALL students are ALWAYS welcome.
Our students' wellbeing is extremely important; and we are grateful to continue to have Miss Anne and the programs and support she provides to many students at our school.
