Week 10 Term 1
Principal's Message
Dear Warwick Central SS community,
END OF TERM 1
This is our last newsletter of the term and it has been a fortnight of celebration, taking time to recognise the achievements of our students and recognise the things that make our school a great place to learn.
Please observe the following dates which school will be closed.
Easter Break: Sat 5 April-Monday 21 April.
We will return for Term 2 on Tuesday 22 April for a short week (due to ANZAC day) and look forward to seeing everyone back then. Use our upcoming events list to keep track of all the important dates. Term 2 is sure to be an exciting and busy term.
Please enjoy the following articles and images that share a fortnight of celebration at Warwick Central State School.
HARMONY DAY
Harmony day was celebrated on Wednesday 26 of March. Students enjoyed a range of craft activities, games and films from other cultures while wearing orange to mark the occasion. The Library has never looked better, decorated with student's colouring competition submissions and a bunting celebrating the rich diversity of cultures that exist within our school. The day was topped off with the Tevaseu/Nootai children sharing a dance inspired by their rich Cook Islander culture which was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
We are all respected and accepted at Warwick Central State School and this is what makes our school great.
PBL REWARDS SESSION
To the excitement of all students on Tuesday 1 April (no jokes) we recognised the sustained cumulative efforts of students living our values Central RULES with pride for our PBL Rewards Sessions. Students have accumulated Behaviour Bucks throughout the term noting their efforts to demonstrate Respect, Understanding, Learning, Effort and Safety at all times.
Our rewards session built on from the school energy created from the success of Harmony Day and students enjoyed a rotation of cultural games including, Dragon's Tail, Kutturi, Cornhole and French Cricket. Students reaching Silver and Gold levels of behaviour also enjoyed the experience of a fortune cookie and/or having the opportunity to sample Japanese Sushi.
Certificates recognising student's behaviour achievements at Bronze, Silver or Gold level were acknowledged and distributed at this week's parade. Absent students can obtain their certificates from their teacher.
Now the Behaviour Bucks start again contributing to the next rewards session in term 2. See the photo gallery for evidence of the fun students had on the day.
SPORTING CELEBRATIONS
This fortnight we also had cause to celebrate the sporting talents of our students with individuals earning places in both the Southern Downs representative sporting teams and the Darling Downs representative sporting team.
We congratulate the following students in being invited to join the following teams:
Southern Downs Representative Rugby | Burwood Robinson Daniel Williams Xavier McConnell |
Darling Downs Representative Cricket | Scarlett Clarkson |
Darling Downs Representative AFL | Scarlett Clarkson |

FUN RUN/CROSS COUNTRY
With the heavens opening down on Warwick, our Fun Run/Cross Country had to be postponed until Friday 4 April. What a great way to end term 1! With the good time tunes rolling students ran, jumped, skipped and hopped across the track and were madly cheered on by their peers in their sporting houses. Great house spirit was displayed with plenty of war cries and dancing to be seen and heard. The winning house will be announced in Term 2.

Thank you to all our staff and community for helping to make our school great, the countless hours supporting students, organising enriching events and volunteering all contributes to the special welcoming feeling that makes our school unique and we could not have done it without you.
Stay safe and enjoy the Easter Break we look forward to seeing you back in Term 2!
